Privacy policy
Summary
The calculators run entirely in your browser. The appliances, watts and battery sizes you enter are not sent to us or stored. Watty, the AI chat helper: nothing is sent until you type a message and press Send. Your message and the recent conversation are then sent to our server and processed by Cloudflare Workers AI to write a reply. We do not store the text of your messages. To limit abuse we keep a short-lived counter tied to a one-way hash of your IP address (it expires within a day). Your chat is kept in your browser’s session storage until you close the tab. Please do not type personal information. Watty is an AI and can be wrong; it gives general guidance only.
What we collect
- Server logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard web-server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and operations.
- Your privacy choice. If you accept or opt out of analytics, we remember that in a first-party cookie named
opp_consent(valuegrantedordenied) that lasts one year. Change it at any time with “Privacy choices / Do not share my info” in the footer of every page. - Messages you send. If you email us, we keep the message to reply and to track corrections.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. We only look at aggregated usage statistics. Google Analytics uses cookies (such as _ga) to collect usage data like pages viewed, approximate location, and browser and device information. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off for our property, and we do not use the data for advertising.
How this depends on where you are. We use your approximate location (country), as determined by our hosting provider Cloudflare when your browser requests a page, only to decide which of these two behaviors applies. We do not store it.
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: Google Analytics is not loaded until you click “Accept” in the banner. If you click “Reject”, or make no choice, it stays off. If we cannot tell where you are, we apply this stricter behavior.
- Everywhere else: Google Analytics loads by default, with no banner, unless you opt out.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal (
navigator.globalPrivacyControl), we honor it as an opt-out everywhere: Google Analytics is not loaded. - Opt out any time: use “Privacy choices / Do not share my info” in the footer. Your choice is saved in the
opp_consentcookie, and analytics stops loading on later page views. - Consent Mode: we use Google Consent Mode v2 with advertising-related storage (
ad_storage,ad_user_data,ad_personalization) always denied.

Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA) you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold, and to opt out of certain sharing. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising. Use “Privacy choices / Do not share my info” in the footer to opt out of analytics. To make a request, email [email protected]. You can also block cookies in your browser settings.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
